the jetset life is gonna kill you ([personal profile] khaospad) wrote2011-07-10 07:42 pm

my chemical romance @ itunes festival.

I'm back home now, spent a long, long time on trains this morning, and I'm tired and grimey but it was worth it; oh so, so worth it!

I've just finished watching the live stream from last night and there isn't too much I can tell you that you haven't already seen but, yeah, I'm still gonna ramble on anyway. \o/

So I caught the train down to London at quarter to 1. I was supposed to be a fast train and only take about an hour and a half but it definitely took WAY over 2 hours, 2 very long, boring and HOT hours, and I eventually got to Euston around 3pm. London was just as hot and sticky as it was on the train and by the time I'd lugged all my bags down the road to my hotel I was sweaty and grouchy and just wanted to slum around in my air conditioned hotel room for a little while thank you.

So when I finally go to check in and the receptionist is all 'your card has been declined' even though I checked my bank account balance not 5 minutes before at the train station and know I have way more than I need to pay for my hotel, I kinda start to think WHY AM I DOING THIS?! /o\ But after 2 more attempts at trying to pay and still my card coming up as 'declined' I'm all 'fine, FINE, I'll go to the cash point!' so I grab my bags and drag myself down to the nearest cash point, check my balance, and LOW AND BEHOLD the transaction has actually gone through, so just so I can't be charged TWICE, I withdrawn ALL OF THE CASH IN MY BANK ACCOUNT and walk back to the hotel again and tell them that the transaction HAS gone through and I would like my hotel room now kthanx. Eventually it got sorted but by then I was just on the verge of giving up and getting the next train home, however I'm very glad I didn't.

My hotel room was TINY OKAY, LIKE MATCHBOX TINY, BUT! I COULD TOTALLY SEE FAKE!SHERLOCK!221B BAKER STREET FROM MY WINDOW. \o/ When I turned into the street when I first arrived at the hotel I SO BADLY wanted to make high pitched squeaky noises and wave my arms and flail because IT WAS RIGHT THERE OMG! I'm just glad that they weren't actually filming that day otherwise I think I might have freaked a little. I tried to snap a sneaky photo however my ninja photography skills aren't all that good and I mostly ended up with a photo of the car in front of me BUT I GOT IT! SORTA!

So yeah, after all the flail about my hotel, I then left and walked back down to Euston Station to catch the tube up to Chalk Farm. I got to Chalk Farm around 6:15 and there was the longest queue EVER! Seriously it was HUGE, and I couldn't help but think that it was going to be a lifetime before I actually got in, but the doors ACTUALLY OPENED ON TIME FOR ONCE and the queue moved super quick and I was inside at around 10 to 7. I walked stright up the stairs to the floor and was pleasently surprised to find that there was hardly anyone next to the stage so even though I'd been miles back in the queue, I was only 4 rows back from the stage which was AWESOME. \o/

The support band Evaline, were okay. Half the time I couldn't really work out what was going on with the music because their sound was pretty awful, but I have to say the drum breakdown they did in their last song was pretty impressive, so I think I might check their record out and see if I actually like it because I just couldn't tell from watching them last night.

AND THEN MCR CAME ON AND THE PLACE WENT CRAZY. There isn't much I can tell you that wasn't shown on the live stream, like the whole Frank writhing on the floor and Gerard climbing into the crowd and Ray's constant beaming face, but one thing that you couldn't really pick up on the stream was just how LOUD the crowd was. There's like hardly any noise from the crowd on the stream but it was very loud in there I promise you.

(Oh, and there was also the moment where Gerard hugged Frank and the stream cut away, IT WAS ADORABLE OKAY. Frank's head curled under Gerard's chin and huge smiles on their faces. Just BOYS!)

I really was expecting the show and the band to be kinda tired? Like with all the touring I was kind of expecting it to not be as good as the previous shows I went to early on in the tour, but I was wrong. They really were on it, there was just so much energy in the room and the smiles on Gerard and Ray's faces like the whole way through were just ridiculous, it was just a really, really amazing show and I feel so lucky that I got a chance to go, I had an AMAZING night. ♥ DEFINITELY in the top 3 My Chem shows I've ever been to, definitely.

Oh and can I just say how impressive the Roundhouse is? Like I've never been in a venue like it before, it's just stunning with all the lighting and pillars. And so, SO much smaller than it looks on screen, like way smaller.

And I got a few pictures, they've come out kinda dark which I don't really get because it was REALLY light in the venue? Oh idk, they're not too fuzzy anyway.

And I got one video of Cancer. Big, BIG love for the speech Gerard gave at the end of Cancer/before Kids, because I'm pretty sure 'stupidly coloured hair and tattoos that you can't get a job with' includes me, like hit the nail right on the head with that one. It made me feel all fuzzy inside and like I ACTUALLY belonged in something, reminded me why I like My Chem in the first place. :)

AND THAT'S IT! \o/ Now I'm off to climb in bed before I switch BBC3 on in 15 minutes to watch their set from T in the Park, so tired and achey guys, so TIREDDDD.

UGH, IT WAS SO DAMN GOOD! I'd only been to the Roundhouse once before for MSI a couple of years ago and had in my head that it was bigger than it was which was a nice surprise when we got in.

There was such an awesome energy to that show, it was kind of perfect and im so, so happy Kids was back on the setlist <333 With that speech my friend just looked at me and said "yep, that's you!" especially as i'd dyed the underneath of my hair turquoise just the day before. JUST, BAAAAAAND <3 THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY!

Did you get back to your hotel ok? TFL was telling some of my friends who were checking on their phones that there was majory tube fuckery. We refused to believe it and when we went to get the tube it said the last one was 12.45am so TFL had been a dirty, filthy liar!

ah you went to that show? god i tried SO HARD to get tickets for that show, was gutted when i didn't get any. but yeah, i was surprised at how small it actually was, was a good surprise though. :)

there was wasn't there? the band were just on it and you could tell they were kinda feeding off the crowd? gerard especially i think, like they started off kinda looking a bit tired but then they just ramped it the fuck up! kids is one of my favourite tracks off danger days so i was so glad to see it back, and in the same spot as it was in hammersmith/manchester last year, brought back some memories LOL. aha, that speech was just yeah, me all over, only just dyed my hair a natural colour because i'm in desperate need for a job, miss having crazy hair already. /o\ i will not take my piercings out though, they are staying! *shakes fist*

yeah i got back fine. i'd heard that there were some issues with the tubes but the northern line was fine as far as i'm aware, absolutely rammed on the way back, but okay. you have any issues getting back?

[identity profile] manuanya.livejournal.com 2011-07-12 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
YES!

I only got in through the Reserve Queue 'cause I didn't have tickets, so I didn't expect to get in at all and it was the most unexpected thing ever when we got in, so... BESTEST TIME! It was such a great show!
